The Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Trot 5K Run & Walk – New 2018 Course And More

One of the great ways we raise money with the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser, which supports the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, is with the Teddy Bear Trot. This family-friendly 5K Run & Walk includes a 1-mile fun run for all ages.

Teddy Bear Trot New Location

Celebrating its fourth year as part of the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser, there are a lot of exciting new things happening this year. The location has changed! This year, people will gather for the race in downtown Edgartown, at Nevin Square, on Winter Street — which is the new home of the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite.

Nevin Square provides a beautiful space for this festive event. Registration on the day of will be at Point B Realty, 19 Winter Street, and the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite will be our new neighbor at 17 Winter Street, its new location for 2018.

With the new location, we have a new course. The first mile will take participants around the iconic Edgartown Lighthouse. Those who are doing the One Mile will be able to end at Nevin Square, while the remaining runners/walkers go through historic Edgartown, and out to the Katama General Store, ending back at Nevin Square at the Teddy Bear Suite.

Here, we will present the 20 winners with medals and boxes of Murdick’s Fudge. The top male/female winner will receive a prize from Lulu Lemon.

Teddy Bear Trot Medals

The age groups for Male/Female medals are:

0-10, 11-13, 14-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, 80 and up. 

Don’t forget that the most festively dressed male/female will receive something as well. So, dress in your holiday best! Plus it adds to the spirit of the event!

We are also presenting all registrants (up to the first 200), with a small box of Murdick’s Fuge. A token of appreciation for helping the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club.

Pre-registration for the Teddy Bear Trot is encouraged. It is $20 for those who pre-register and $25 for those who register the day of. You save $5 and will be sure to get one of our very cool PERFORMANCE race shirts which have been completely sponsored by two generous Island businesses. A Beary Good Cause 

Your participation in the Teddy Bear Trot makes a DIFFERENCE! Over the past seven years, the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser has raised $126,000 for the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club’s After School Program. For the past couple of years, we have been supporting the Healthy Happy Kids program, nicknamed H2K.

Healthy Happy Kids Food Program

Healthy Happy Kids is the Clubs way to target childhood hunger and food insecurity, which sadly, is a reality for so many Island children. Many of the hundreds of elementary school-aged children that attend the After School Program are already on free/reduced breakfast and lunch plans, but there is still a long day for many kids once school ends, and the Club fills that gap.

H2K provides substantial snacks and meals for FREE, for every child, every day during the Clubs After School Program. This program has had so many positive benefits. There are less behavioral problems, there are more kids playing in the gym, more working on their homework, and more enjoying the company of other Club kids. 

With your help through the Teddy Bear Trot, the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite, our Christmas in Edgartown raffle, and online donations, it is Point B Realty’s goal to raise the money needed to fund this remarkable program. 

The Teddy Bear Trot would not be possible without the Martha’s Vineyard Hurricanes Youth Running Club — this group of parents and kids work so hard to make this race run smooth!
