We always look forward to our Christmas in Edgartown #mvteddybearsuite raffle. It’s a great way to help raise the money for the $20,000 goal to help fund the Boys & Girls Club’s Healthy Happy Kids.
This year, we had 27 gift certificates to some of the Island’s best restaurants, divided into two raffle items, a great Martha’s Vineyard framed print from Lure-Fish, and a beautiful handmade wampum feather necklace from Littlest Fish Designs.
Our volunteers, most whom are from the Boys & Girls Club, do an amazing job helping spread the excitement of the items and how the money helps keep children fed.
After the weekend, I get the privilege of picking and calling raffle winners. You can’t even imagine the joy from that call. It’s really a special experience.
And the Winners Are……
For the Littlest Fish Designs necklace, Leslie Soyka. A Summer resident of Edgartown, Leslie was here for the weekend with her family for the festivities. She was very excited to win this handmade piece. Her 14-year-old daughter was hoping to win it. She really loved the necklace, and I love knowing that it has such a good home.
For the Lure-Fish print, Tim Moriarty was the lucky winner. His son really liked the way the personality of the different towns was presented by artist, Abe Pieciak. It was great to hear that! I love when little ones enjoy art. Tim, his wife, Liz and their children live on the Island and are happy to have this print in their home!
Year after year the restaurant raffles are super popular. It’s like winning the lottery, but with food from some of people’s favorite dining spots on Martha’s Vineyard.
I reached out to the winner of the Yum & Fun Restaurant package first, Jacquie Murphy, and this was my favorite call of all. She could not believe she won, repeatedly saying, “No Sir”! We laughed about it.
It was true, she did win, and she cannot wait to use the gift certificates all Summer long when she has her boat moored in the Oak Bluffs Harbor. I really think I made her day!
The Island Date Night Restaurant package went to Ross Ashton. Though usually here, he is off Island dealing with medical things. So, it was really nice to share this news with him.
He was pretty excited because he really believes in the work the Club does and he is going to share his winnings with his son, who lives on the Island. I think they might be Christmas presents, but shhhhh don’t tell anyone.
Congratulations to our winners! We look forward to next year’s raffle and hope you do too! Can’t wait to see what fun prizes we have for you.
