Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser: Weekend Events Drive Total Over $19,000+

Christmas In Edgartown weekend turned out to be quite a weekend of fun and fundraising for the Martha’s Vineyard Teddy Bear Suite. Organizers today announced that the annual holiday fundraiser has passed $19,000, rapidly climbing toward the current $20,000 goal.

The third annual Teddy Bear Trot 5K Run & Walk raised nearly $3,000 on its own. Under clear blue skies, and the scenic backdrop of Edgartown Lighthouse and Harbor, 125 registered runners took to the in-town streets of Edgartown, headed out to Katama and back, ending at the Teddy Bear Suite at the Harbor View Hotel.

All the 5K money raised goes to support the Teddy Bear Suite Fundraiser, which is directly helping fund the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club Healthy Happy Kids food program. H2K is already having a big impact on childhood hunger and food insecurity among the island’s elementary school aged children. The estimated cost for next year is $50,000.

Teddy Bear Suite And Holiday Raffle

Both the annual holiday raffle and Teddy Bear Suite were very busy throughout the festive Christmas in Edgartown weekend. Winners for our best-ever holiday raffle will be announced Tuesday.

Between the raffle and donations at the door of the Teddy Bear Suite, another $3,000 have been raised during the holiday fundraiser.

So many thanks, to so many people, for the great support over the fundraising weekend. Thank you all! Our own team of agent volunteers deserves a big round of applause. They are the hosts and greeters you meet in the Teddy Bear Suite. Sunday volunteers (above) included (left to right) Katie Halsey, Annie Sylvia (and son Jake), and Emily Avakian.

They were joined by (left to right) Melanie Rankow Prescott, Joe Barkett, and Julia Smith (with daughter Hailey). Guinevere Cramer and Katie Dawson helped throughout the day and also played key roles in the Teddy Bear Trot. Point B donated $450 to the fundraiser as a thank you for all our agent volunteers on Sunday.
